Last saturday, we had our first rehearsal which left all of us buzzing of excitement.
A reading of the finished script left us a little choked up- and that is only a reading.
Our cast is dedicated to both the show and the cause. Here is a bit more information about them.
Avita
Avita trained at Drama Studio London where her roles included Rosalind in As You Like It, Masha in Three Sisters, and Edward/Betty in Cloud Nine Avita. Since graduating she has appeared in Acting Like Mad's Spare (New Diorama Theatre), Word of Mouth Media Production's Bardathon (The Scoop), Street Seduction with Soulfire Theatre (Brady Arts Centre), The Nutcracker at the Pentameters Theatre and has recently finshed a run of Louis de Berniere's Sunday Morning at the Centre of the World at the Southwark Playhouse. Avita is really excited about being a part of 2 Women and getting another chance to perform at the Brady Arts Centre.
Lynne Armitage:

Lynne originally trained for a career in classical ballet at Bush Davies. Soon after becoming established however, a series of accidents and operations made it impossible to continue in this field leading her to retrain as an actor at Middlesex University and The Actor’s Centre.
On graduating she decided to combine her abilities to create and perform works in contemporary dance and physical theatre touring the country with Tangent Dance and Dust Weblings and working with Complicite and The Lindsay Kemp Company. Later she became a choreographer for The National Youth Music Theatre and even wowed audiences abroad in the oh so glamorous role of Miss Piggy in Jim Henson’s “The Muppet Show”!
More recently Lynne has concentrated on straight acting playing a wide range of roles for the stage including the lead in the theatre adaptation of Neil Jordan’s film “The Company of Wolves” for Chimera, Queen Elizabeth in “Richard the Third” for Lockwood-Taylor Productions and Iris in the WestEnd run and national tour of Jacqueline Wilson’s “Midnight” for Watershed Productions. Her film and TV credits include Peta in “Taxandria” for Iblis Films, Betty Hilder in “Animal Ark” for Zenith Productions, the dual role of Sarah/Laura in “Harry and the Wrinklies” for ITV and Tamsin in “Urban Gothic” for Channel 4.
Rupna:

Rupna was recommended to us by our friend Jen. She is currently studying Performing Arts at South Thames College. She recently performed in the Crucible.
She will be one of our dancers for the show.
I feel so much more peaceful having seen everyone come together and put in a little bit of life into the words we had spent so long writing.
The dancers rehearsed the opening scene on the music which has already been decided upon.
Our choreographer, Emma, came up with some props to use and Artistic dance director Amith oversaw the progression.
" It was so nice to get everyone finally together around this track, which is one of my favourites, and really feeling what this scene was all about. I am very excited to see the final outcome".A.R
In the other room, Lorna is leading the actresses through Shahina and Marie's journey to self-discovery and acceptance.
Our next rehearsal will be on Tuesday, in the Brady Art Center, and I have the feeling that once again this will bring another dimension to our play.
